I get that. If your religion had different traditions and commandments, then you would have different laws in a theocratical society. Thus, you would be subject to break at least one law due to the fact that you may have been forced to break it or you had no knowledge of its existence.

I agree with Ben's statement. For example if I love to eat pork and the society I'm living in is Jewish. I guess you could say I'm in a bit of a pickle. :)

As mentioned in my answer, i also agree with what Ben is saying. I would say that not being in the same religion as everyone else is can sometimes make you feel left out and lonely at times. It could also make you feel that everyone is against you if the two religions are completely different and you are not sure what the beliefs and laws are. For example, if you move to a new school you are not used to and everyone already has there friend groups and already knows each other from elementary school you are not sure how they are or what they are like then you can sometimes feel left out but once you get to really know them it is not so bad.

1. Moral standings can be seen as an advantage of a church controlled society. The society will put higher importance on morality and enforce peace. They will build the foundation of law upon their beliefs.

1. An advantage of living in a society controlled by the church would be the agreement on many moral issues that are extremely controversial today. The government and the church would no longer need to go head to head. For example, the heated debate over whether or not abortion should be illegal would be nonexistent.

While I agree with Avery's points, the church does condone righteous wars. Even Vatican City owns its share of nuclear weapons, so would the society led by the church really be in such great danger of invasion?

1. In a religion-based society, morals would be key to valuable citizens. If your morals were good according to that religion, then you would have a good chance of having decent standing in that society. Building off of what Avery said, the church and government would no longer have conflicting views. You would no longer have to worry about upsetting one for favor of the other.

Yes, a church led society would have constricting laws, but that would not necessarily lead to a small population. There are many nations in the Middle East with constricting laws and regulations, but one does not see a small population in those societies. Places like Saudi Arabia restrict any other religion besides Islam, and their population is large and growing. They are also seen to have one of the most secure governments in the world.

1. An advantage to a theocratic society would be the fact that people are less inclined to act out in mischievous ways and go against the morals of society due to the repercussions that would ensue. In a society where people believe in the same morals everyone would vote the same, and potentially the society would run smoothly until a difference in morals arose.

I agree with your disadvantage, however; I happen to disagree with your advantage. I don't believe all citizens would agree in the same morals because there has to be a few who believe in a different religion. I also wouldn't think there would be very strong repercussions due to the church's kindness and forgiveness.

1. One advantage would be that there would be one understood way of social conduct. To clarify, If everyone in the US acted under the social conducts of the church, drugs and alcohol wouldn't be forced onto people by their peers. Everyone would know that acting in this way wouldn't be acceptable, so no one would bring up the issue or attempt the action.

While I agree that it would be good to have one form of correct social conduct, I disagree with the point that wrongdoings would not be forced onto others. This is obvious in the world today. Taking your example, we all know drug and alcohol use is very bad and is opposed by the church, the law, and honestly by our own common sense. However, the amount of teenagers being peered pressure into using these substances is staggering. Having a law against a misconduct does not mean the issue will disappear. It is actually quite the opposite.

I strongly agree with what avery is arguing, rebellion is one of the number one causes of doing crime or illegal actions. Also offending an opposing society and potentially creating threats against other religions is quite a common thing which happens a lot in our world today. That’s why i believe that a church community would not be successful in that situation, because they would be prejudice and would have no mercy for the other religion and there actions

I disagree with your view that a church controlled society would have less protests against authority. While people that are faithful members of the church may agree with all of its rulings or laws, nonmembers or those who question the church's standards may reject the authority of the church which may lead to protests against its authority.

Being in a Society controlled by the church has some advantages to it. For example, the church always tries to have a positive outlook on life, which is a strong advantage of the people following it, because the society works as a whole to benefit themselves in a positive way. The crime rates would drop tremendously, making everything and society more productive in the future.

1. An advantage of living in a church-controlled society is that with a common belief system that demands its people to live moral lives, a majority of the members within that society would act according to those morals. If the majority does not commit immoral actions because of their beliefs, there would be much less crime. A society with similar beliefs would lead to less conflict in terms of how the government is run and how the people interact with one another.

I agree that "since everyone believed in the same things and acted the same way then there would be nothing unique about a person's character." The church can sometimes have a concrete way of thinking and this could pressure people to accept the churches beliefs and never think outside the box. Without this crucial imagination there is no more innovation, and society would stop growing.

1. Living in a society controlled by the church would mean that church morals and guidelines would be incorporated into everyday life. Keeping this in mind, you would assume that there would be less violence, a great devotion to God, and a very spiritually strong community. A great advantage as well would be that there would be no conflict between government and state, because they are both one. The community would be free to practice religion, without the fear of religious persecution. There would be little conflict about religious issues, because everyone would be religiously on the same page.

2. Correct. The pressure would most likely be immense. onecan't even think about telling a risky joke because someone could assume they were corrupting others to act against the laws of the faith. The pressure is definitely on in regards to speech and actions. The things one would have to keep in their head alone could drive them crazy. I guess if you are born into this society it might be easier than assimilation or being around at its founding.

1. Having a church led society no doubt makes life easier. There's not much of a question about right or wrong. If it is right, you're in the clear. If it is wrong, you are punished. It's a pretty clear decision. When the leaders are brought a questionable act, all that is needed in order to make a decision is turn to scripture or their basic beliefs, and then there's the answer.

The church has always been strong and held a powerful moral mindset. I think this mindset would reflect onto the people and they would have a positive attitude which would eventually spread to others inside the community. People would feel involved which would make them feel better and excited about what the church is doing. Due to this moral background it would make the church even stronger and powerful, therefore just about all laws and government would be having this influential power backing it up.
